There is something faintly unsettling and entirely charming about a child dressed as a root vegetable. This one wears a turnip for a hood, purple fading to white and drawn up into a long tapered point, with a face cut from an antique postcard looking out from under it. The body is spun cotton over a wire frame, the legs are striped green like turnip tops, and he carries a small turnip of his own on a string, that one with a face and a tuft of crepe paper greens. He stands on a mound of green glitter. Inspired by Victorian era German ornaments and made the same way, by hand, so no two come out quite alike.
