There is a particular affection people hold for Humpty Dumpty, who is after all famous for falling, and this small bean bag version of him looks entirely untroubled by any of that. He is made by hand for us in New York, his face embroidered stitch by stitch onto natural linen with pale blue eyes, round red cheeks and a wide stitched grin, and tufts of sandy yarn hair standing straight up on either side. His body is blue gingham check, finished with a navy grosgrain bow at the collar, and the rice filling gives him enough weight to sit upright wherever you put him without slumping. A shelf, a mantel, a windowsill or the end of a child's bed all suit him equally.
